I am not sure if this has happened to you but it happens with me quite often. It is true that you meet many people along the way. Only a few have an impact on you and it might be possible that your ways might inspire someone. Other than that, there are people who just come and go and both you and them are totally indifferent entities, indifferent acquaintances, if I may put it that way.
I am going to put a sample chat excerpt here which is pretty common these days.
Now this conversation ends here. I wait and wait but no other question/comment from there. I am indifferent to such people and therefore I have no interest in asking anything else. I am not curious at all. Since XYZ too has not responded at all, which means there is no interest there as well. The thing that bothers me is why XYZ is so much interested in my whereabouts. I must also highlight that such chat is not regular or daily that you run out of content. It happens every 3 to 6 months.
I have come to an assumption/conclusion, which could be untrue is that these people are the ones who are too much bothered by comparisons. They are the ones who always compare themselves with others and calculate if they are better off such people or not. I also notice that such people are the ones who have started at the same level in one way or the other. I am sick of such conversations and talks. If they really care to be in touch, then entire chemistry will be different; both the parties will be interested in each other and there will be much more talks than sheer whereabouts plus the conversation will not happen at such lower frequency.
If you are also encountering such conversations, the best thing is to just do not respond. Now they will try to extract that information by asking another common link of yours. Just stop responding to them. I guess they deserve it.
Please live and let live. We all have our share of problems and responsibilities to deal with; stop being annoyance.
